Dr. Conrad Murray was sentenced today in court, Judge Pastor lashed out at his character
Judge Pastor handed Dr. Murray four years in prison, the maximum allowed, but not before scolding him in a long-winded rant about what a disgrace Dr. Murray is to the medical profession and how he failed his patient, Michael Jackson.
Judge Pastor denied the defense’s request for probation citing that Murray was grossly negligent in the death of Jackson. Pastor said Murray was deceitful, attempted to cover-up his transgressions, and had no sense of remorse whatsoever. Pastor chided: ”Why give probation to someone who is offended by the idea that that person is even before the court? You can’t have probation when there is lack of rehabilitation and responsibility.”
Judge Pastor said Michael Jackson was vulnerable because Murray made him vulnerable “on a repeated nightly basis. He put Mr. Jackson in position where Dr. Murray was responsible for the very life of Michael Jackson. He schemed to obtain propofyl…by lying to pharmacies, by concocting stories, by not keeping records and by allowing his personal life to interfere with his responsibilities.”
Not only did Murray lie, cheat and steal, he accepted zero responsibility for Jackson’s death and instead acted offended that he was blamed for it. “Not only is there no remorse, there is outrage on part of Murray against decedent,” said Pastor. He added that he believes Dr. Conrad Murray IS a danger to society.
The bizarre tape recordings of a very drugged up Michael Jackson were also brought up. Judge Pastor says the recordings made by Dr. Conrad Murray were “horrific” and were recorded for the sole purpose of being Murray’s “insurance policy” in a vicious “set of circumstances” that “involved a horrible cycle of medicine.”
Now that Dr. Conrad Murray is a felon, he must submit a blood and saliva sample as well as fingerprints and palm-prints.
46 days have been credited to Murray’s four year sentence as time served. He may still appeal today’s decision but it must be done in 60 days.
Prosecution requested more than one hundred MILLION dollars in restitution but did not provide enough information/itemization to satisfy Judge Pastor, so the monetary part of the decision will be dealt with at a later date, most likely January 23, 2012.
