Frank Sinatra’s old Chatsworth house up for sale!
Ol’ Blue Eyes had amazing taste.
The legendary singer and actor, who passed away in 1998, was known for dressing classy, dating gorgeous women, and frequently choosing to be surrounded by beautiful things, including his homes.
One of the places people affiliate with Sinatra was his Chatsworth, California house, built in 1951. The house had such a strong Hollywood presence back in the day, with special residents, including Dora Hutchinson (who used to throw glitzy parties for stars like Lucille Ball and Ava Gardner), and the one and only Marilyn Monroe.
According to Curbed LA, the listing for the property says that Judy Garland and Vicente Minnelli were married on the property. The house, which has an asking price of $12 million, sits on 14 acres (with a 10,000 square foot main house), and includes 4 bedrooms, 5 ½ bathrooms, along with a lower-level production studio. It also boasts a 1,000 square foot guesthouse, a detached gym, a 9 ½ acre vineyard, and enough room for parking 200 cars. Whoa.

Forbes magazine states that “the current owners have updated, restored and decorated the living space to embody that time period”, and that tenants can actually make money while living there (up to $2 million a year!). Apparently it is a popular filming location. Most recently, the Mad Men episode called “The Jet Set”, featured the home as a ‘Palm Springs’ house. It had also been a fixture in the movies Dreamgirls and Ali, and the TV show Californication.
As a fan of the mid-century modern architecture Palm Springs is known for (where Sinatra and the rest of The Rat Pack frequently use to hang), I do have to say I love the look of the house.
What do you think? Are you a fan, or not?
