Lady Gaga: a likely hack victim just like the rest of us peons
Browsing through my Twitter feed early Monday afternoon, I stumbled upon an amusing (and VERY gracious) tweet that was allegedly from Lady Gaga to her fans, or as she calls them her little “Monsters”.
Seeming too good to be true, the tweet read, “FREE iPad2s to each one of you in the spirit of the holidays.” Too bad it was too good to be true, and according to MSNBC, Gaga’s Facebook page (where she has over 45 million followers) was also hacked with the same fake messages. Along with the scam posts were attached links, which unfortunately might have compromised some of Gaga’s fan’s information, had they filled out the forms included in the link.
Since word got back to “Mother Monster” about the virus/hack, the faux tweets have been removed. In their place, Gaga tweeted, “Phew. The hacking is over! And just in time, I’m on my way to Japan! So excited to spend Xmastime with my TokyoMonsters!”
Ah, the joys of modern technology…
