The First Trailer For The Hobbit Has Made An Unexpected Journey From Middle-earth

The first trailer for THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is here.

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks for movie geeks, as we’ve been given the chance to get psyched over first looks at THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, WRATH OF THE TITANS, another G.I. JOE and the promise of Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS tomorrow. Add another to the list, as Warner Bros., New Line Cinema and MGM released the first trailer for the prequel to the LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy, with Peter Jackson returning to the director’s chair for THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPLAINED JOURNEY, the first of two parts that the Tolkien book has been split into.

It feels like LORD OF THE RINGS all over again, which is a great thing for those of us who were fans of Jackson’s first three visits to Middle-earth. If you weren’t, well, you weren’t going to see this movie anyway, so what’s the difference? This time, it’s Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman, at the center of the action, and, for those of you wondering if any of the cast from the first three movies will be dropping in for this prequel, the trailer should answer those questions rather quickly. There’s plenty of Gandalf and… why don’t I just let you see for yourself?

The first part of THE HOBBIT arrives on December 14, 2012, with part two showing up a year later.
