‘American Idol’ Runner-Up James Durbin Gets Married!

American Idol’s Season 10 finalist, James Durbin, celebrated the beginning of 2012 as a married man!

According to People.com, Durbin wed his longtime girlfriend Heidi Lowe Saturday in his hometown of Santa Cruz, California. The happy couple tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in front of 85 guests that included Idol alums Haley Reinhart, Stefano Langone and Casey Abrams, along with the couple’s 2-year-old son Hunter (who was the couple’s ring bearer!)

The couple told People, “We are so in love and happy that we got to share our special day with our closest family and friends”, adding, “This wedding was the perfect way to kick off the New Year. We are looking forward to living happily ever after.”

The lovebirds were apparently delighted to have Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche’s frontman), show up and give a surprise performance of his band’s 1984 hit “Take Hold of the Flame”, which just so happens to be one of Durbin and Lowe’s favorite songs.

Durbin, 22, says that he and his new wife plan on celebrating their vows with a reception at a local community hall that he describes as a “little bit country, little bit rock ‘n roll.” Ha!

Seems like 2011 has treated Durbin well…with the recent release of his debut album Memories of a Beautiful Disaster, and now with he and Lowe’s wedding bells a ringin’, I think 2012 will prove to be even bigger and better for the talented dude.

Here’s a toast to the happy couple! Wishing them all the best in 2012!
