Elton John Wants Justin Timberlake To Portray Him In Biopic

Elton John and Justin Timberlake: Could the “Sexy Back” singer play the Rocketman?

If you could think of an actor that would do an awesome job portraying musical legend Elton John, would Justin Timberlake come to mind?

If you ask Sir Elton John himself, he sure the heck would!

During an interview with the LA Times (via), the singer revealed that his and author Lee Hall’s biopic Rocketman was still “very much in the works”, and when asked who would be his top pick to play him, he answered none other than Justin Timberlake.

Speaking about Timberlake, John says, “I don’t know. I’ve got a wish list of people. No. 1 on my wish list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of ‘Rocket Man’ and was superb.”

The film, which is being described as a “biographical musical fantasy”, is expected to use musical sequences that will be centered around John’s hits, and will tell the story of a young virtuoso that emerges into a global superstar. John himself will serve as the executive producer for the movie, and the project will mark the singer’s second collaboration with Hall (the two worked together on a musical adaptation of Billy Elliot).

Although Timberlake wouldn’t be the first person to come to mind when thinking of someone who could portray John, I’d be interested to see him attempt it. It would be entertaining nevertheless.

What do you guys think? Could Timberlake pull it off?
