Christina graces the cover of Marie Claire magazine: February 2012
She tries so hard to maintain a good public image but after numerous (and I mean numerous) drunken ecapades, a bad divorce, and (dare I say it) a little weight gain, the public hasn’t really been interested in what she’s doing unless she’s throwing up on herself or wearing something revealing.
Then there’s that pesky rumor that she’s been to rehab 3 times in the past month, and all sources point to, “it’s TRUE.” But let’s give Christina her moment here, after all, she doesn’t get many of them anymore.
Regarding her weight, Aguilera says she is happy with her body and doesn’t waste time worrying about what everyone is saying. She says no matter what, people will talk.
“I’ve been through my highs, I’ve been through my lows; I’ve been through the gamut of all things in this business. Being too thin. Being bigger. I’ve been criticized for being on both sides of the scale. It’s noise I block out automatically. I love my body. My boyfriend loooves my body. My son is healthy and happy, so that’s all that matters to me.”
“I have certain physical features that I favor over others. We all have our areas. When I worked on Burlesque, I lost so much weight that I was too skinny. I don’t weigh myself — it’s all about how I feel in my clothes. What looks good on one person might not look good on another body type. I happen to be very confident in my own skin. It takes time to get to that place, but it’s all about embracing yourself and your body.”
So what did you expect her to say? “Yeah, those Bahama Mamas really pack the calories, boy!” Okay, I did too.
