Snoop Dogg Gets Busted For Pot

Snoop Dogg loves his pot weed

How’s this for irony…Snoop Dogg was arrested Saturday morning for pot…by a dog.

The rapper, who’s just as famous for his advocacy of tokin’ the green stuff, as he is for his freestyle, was driving through Texas when border patrol agents stopped his tour bus. Apparently this particular stretch of highway was the same spot where Willie Nelson was busted for the same thing back in 2010.

Calvin Broadus (Dogg’s birth name), who has a prescription for medical marijuana in California, “freely admitted” to the police that he had three prescription bottles filled with several joints.

The sheriff’s statement said, “During a routine check of U.S. citizenship the inspecting Border Patrol agent detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the inside of the vehicle and requested the driver to pull into the secondary inspection lane for further inspection.”

With that, a drug-sniffing dog hopped onto the bus and “alerted to a trash can located at the rear of the vehicle where a red prescription bottle containing rolled marijuana cigarettes were located.” That dog must have had the craziest contact high. I can only imagine, Snoop smokes the best of the best.

After finding two other containers, with a total weed weight of .130 lbs (less than an ounce), Snoop was arrested and detained, but eventually released and cited for possession of drug paraphernalia (a misdemeanor). He is due back in court on January 20, and if convicted, he could do up to 180 days in jail.

This isn’t the first time the rap star has been arrested, and I’m pretty sure it’s not the last. Compared to other run-ins with the law though (he has been taken in several times for weapons/firearm possession), this is small time. There are bigger fish to fry.
