Heidi Klum and Seal: Divorce?

Will Heidi Klum and Seal divorce? 

News hit the web this weekend that one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples may be headed for a divorce.

TMZ first broke the news Saturday that Heidi Klum was on the brink of filing for divorce from her husband of nearly seven years, Seal, but new reports are suggesting those rumors were a bit premature.

A source close to the couple told People magazine that although Heidi and Seal have been having problems lately they aren’t going to divorce. ”They’ve been fighting a lot lately, but they have no plans to announce a split right now. They’re not divorcing.”

Both Heidi and Seal have been traveling a lot lately, Seal has been promoting his new album and Heidi is getting ready to jet off to Germany to film the new season of (Germany’s) Project Runway. If they can weather being apart for the next couple of months they might be able to make it.

I don’t care what people say, the “seven year itch” is a very real and strange phenomenon. It is definitely a tough year for some reason. I truly hope these divorce rumors are simply just that, rumors. I’d hate to see these two kids split, they seem to have the perfect marriage (if there is such a thing) and their devotion to one another is admirable. Gosh, if Heidi Klum and Seal can’t make it, is there hope for the rest of us?

UPDATE: The couple have confirmed they will divorce. Bummer. The following statement was jointly released to the public Sunday:

“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate. 
We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. 
We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.” 

 TMZ reported Monday that Seal’s temper was part of what led to the split. I’ll write more about that soon.
