Nickelback hates the haters
After recently being blamed for the “death of rock’n’roll” by fellow band The Black Keys, and getting a slew of rude Tweets thrown their way, the Canadian rock band decided to give the Hater-rade drinkers a taste of their own (sarcastic) medicine.
One Tweet received read, “Was driving down the street, and a @Nickelback song came on. I had an aneurism and violently sh*t myself at the same time. And my dog died.” In a quick reply back, the group wrote, “I bet it was the best day you’ve had in awhile. #yourwelcome.” While another naysayer tried their insult with, “Nickelback came on the radio… Worse than rebecca black #earsbleeding.” The band’s response? “Then it’s working?!?!? Sweet!”
The Black Keys’ comment wasn’t any less offensive, and was printed in Rolling Stone as: “Rock’n'roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world… So they became OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be sh*t – therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world. F**k that.” But taking it lightheartedly, Nickelback came back with the snide comment (via Twitter), “Thanks to the drummer in The Black Keys calling us the Biggest Band in the World in Rolling Stone. Hehe.
Hey, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, right? I think it’s cool the band is having a good time responding to their internet trolls with fun little quips, but it would make it waaay more entertaining if they were not so damn PG about it.
