Vanna White and Pat Sajak on the set of Wheel of Fortune
Dan Le Batard from “Dan Le Batard is Highly Questionable” asked the famous game show host if he had ever hosted the television show under the influence, and he answered, “When I first started and was much younger and could tolerate those things, we had a different show then.”
Sajak says that in the early days (he began hosting the show back in 1981), he would have dinner breaks that lasted over two hours, due to the set changes. During those long breaks he says he and co-host Vanna White would hit up the local Mexican restaurant to get their ‘fiesta’ on with some margaritas.
He says, “Vanna and I would go across and have two or three or six and then come and do the last shows and have trouble recognizing the alphabet. They’re really great tapes to get a hold of.”
He adds, “I had a great time. I have no idea if the shows were any good, but no one said anything, so I guess I did OK.”
Seeing how long the show’s been on the air, and with Sajak hosting it for over 30 years, I’m thinking either nobody noticed, or they liked watching him wasted. Either way, it was a different time. Nowadays, that shiz wouldn’t fly, because it would all be exposed in the media and they wouldn’t be getting away with that, and you can tell by his last admission. He says, “I would be hesitant to have anything to drink now.”
It’s a different world out there y’all.
Okay, random story calls for a random (and funny!) video. Watch this and tell me, what the heck is Pat Sajak chugging in this???
