Don Cornelius Dead at 75

Don Cornelius suicide

The host and founder of Soul Train, Don Cornelius has died at the age of 75.

Cornelius took his own life at his Los Angeles Mulholland Drive home early this morning, he had shot himself in the head with a shotgun.

In recent years Don Cornelius had been battling not only bad health, but a bitter divorce that he was eager to end. He endured a stroke, brain surgery and numerous medical issues. In 2008 he was arrested for a domestic violence incident and pleaded no contest, and in 2010, he and his wife Victoria Avila-Cornelius divorced.

At 4:56 a.m this morning he was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

He surely made his mark on this world and left behind a legacy. RIP, Don.
