Russell Brand Doesn’t Want Katy Perry’s Money

I can only imagine that the second Katy Perry was hit with those unexpected divorce papers, she panicked a bit, given that her and her husband Russell Brand, 86’d the idea of a prenup before they wed, but she apparently has no reason to fret, because Brand wants no part of it.

TMZ reports that in the 14 months that the couple was married, Perry made over $44 million, and given the absence of a prenup, that ‘community property’ can be split directly down the middle. Damn, those cupcake tatas made some serious cheddar…and in a recession!

Whether out of respect for his ex, a matter of pride, or whatever, Brand is taking the high road on this one, saying he’s satisfied taking only what he earned. I’m not feeling too bad for the guy, as he’s rumored to be worth somewhere in the range of $15-$18 million. Cha-ching!

As a source close to the couple reveals, “This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person).”

This is smart on Russell’s part. He definitely has his place in Hollywood, and can hold his own, without looking like a desperate gold-digger. He’s smart, funny, a little unkempt looking, but holds definite charm. He’ll be alright.
