Anderson Cooper’s Janet Jackson interview on CNN
Janet talks about her reaction to Whitney’s death, her memories of the talented singer, her own brother’s death and she even gives advice to Bobbi Kristina, Whitney’s grieving daughter. The interview is set to run Monday, February 20, 2012.
Anderson: “When you heard the news what did you think?”
Janet: “I couldn’t believe it. Immediately I started shaking. I was trying to text everyone I know to let them know, I was speechless.”
Anderson: “To you, what was she like as a performer?”
Janet: “Incredible, I mean, she was known as ‘the voice.’ When she would open her mouth and this instrument would come out, obviously you would understand why.”
Then Janet brings her experience and wisdom to the table. She opens up about Michael’s death and says that moving on in your life is absolutely imperative after the death of a loved one:
“I lost my brother, she lost her mother, there’s still a difference even though it’s still a loss from the family, so I don’t truly know what that’s like. And being so young… But, it was hard for me. Very, very difficult for me. I didn’t want to accept it, it’s very difficult and you have to come to terms at some point. You have to actually give it up to God and…it sounds so mean, but you HAVE to move on, you can’t hold onto that because it can be very devastating, and sometimes therapy is the best thing.”
Anyone who has lost someone can definitely attest to that. It takes some people longer than others to accept such a devastating loss, but eventually you learn to move on. Because if you wallow in it, it will destroy you, plain and simple. Good to see Janet is coping and is strong. As for Bobbi Kristina, I wish that girl the best, and I hope she learns to cope too, because I get the sense that without vigilant support, it could destroy her.
