Chris Cornell Honors Whitney Houston

Chris Cornell pays homage to Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston’s passing has brought out feelings and expressions of love from all corners of life, and very understandably all genres of music, and Chris Cornell is just one musician who wished to pay his own tribute to the iconic singer who passed too soon, by covering “I Will Always Love You”.

The Soundgarden singer gave his own rendition of the song Dolly Parton originally sang in 1974, at a fundraiser for Barack Obama’s presidential election campaign in San Francisco on Thursday, February 16th. Along with this cover, Cornell also played his version of songs by John Lennon (“Imagine”), Bob Marley (“Redemption Song”), and Elvis Costello (“Peace, Love And Understanding”).

When Houston sang “I Will Always Love You” for The Bodyguard soundtrack back in 1992, she seemed to reinvent the already famous song by making it her own, and brought it to a whole other level of popularity.

Cornell plays the song in a beautiful, acoustic set. Go ahead and listen to his version below!
