Mark Wahlberg’s Kids Watched Tattoo Removal

Marky Mark is anti-tattoo, wants his children to be too

Mark Wahlberg doesn’t want his kids getting tattoos. So much so that he took his two oldest children along with him while getting his tattoos removed by laser.

Before shooting The Fighter a couple years ago Mark decided he wanted to get rid of his ink, which included a half dozen or so tattoos. He opted to have them removed rather than spend the grueling hours in the makeup chair having them removed. Besides that, Mark Wahlberg has mellowed in his older age, making family and his faith his number one priority. Most of Mark’s tattoos were acquired in the 1990s when tattoos were trendy and just catching on mainstream.

Hoping to curb his kids from deciding on getting inked, Mark chose to bring his children along to watch him endure the painful laser removal.

“They (tattoos) all have meaning to me, but it’s both personal and professional. I don’t want my kids getting tattoos. And I wanted them to be gone by the time I did The Fighter because putting make-up on and covering them up has always been a pain in the butt …. I’ve taken my two older kids to the procedure so they see how painful it is and what I have to go through.”

I can appreciate what Mark has done. I too, have a few tattoos I’d like to get rid of, but on the flip side, I also adore tattoos. I’ve often thought of getting another, but man, when you’ve got tattoos you already aren’t too keen on it’s sort of tough justifying doing so. Those tribal tattoos just aren’t as cool as they used to be, right fellas?
