‘The Voice’ judges, from left, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Cee Lo Green
Sure they’re eternally etched on your skin, if left untouched thereafter, but sometimes that patch of ink you once loved so much that you scarred your body forever for, just doesn’t do it for you anymore. Even celebrities sometime have their regrets.
Adam Levine did an interview with Anderson Cooper, where he revealed that his right shoulder tattoo was “pretty stupid”. He admitted he once saw a dude with a cool-looking tattoo and tried to get a similar one, but ended up with a “horrible bastardized version” instead. He says he ended up trying to cover-up the tat by adding more to it, but would up with what looks like “a cauliflower with a sun in the middle of it.” Ha! It happens to the best of us I guess. Country star Blake Shelton has said before, “I probably have the crappiest tattoo, not only in country music, but maybe in the world.” Blake permanently showed the world his love of hunting by getting a trail of deer tracks around his left forearm. He says that the tracks are commonly mistaken for ladybugs, though, so he threw some barbed wire around those babies to toughen it up. Too funny. (You can see his tattoo HERE).
The heavily tattooed Cee Lo Green doesn’t really have a tattoo he dislikes, but rather one that is unfinished. He says he actually walked out of a tattoo parlor while he was getting a family tree inked on his back…The reason? Too much pain. He says because he couldn’t actually see it being done, he felt he couldn’t control it. He said, “With your back, you’re lying on your front getting the tattoo and you just feel totally out of control — you can’t get a gauge on whether they’re close to completion. So I gave up on it and I have an unfinished tattoo on my back. It was meant to be a family tree; I haven’t been in a rush to finish it.” (Makes sense that he never shows it, so no pic to see).
Finally, Miss Christina Aguilera has a small tat on the inside of her left elbow that’s supposed to be ex-hubby Jordan Bratman’s initals in Hebrew, but apparently the combination of the characters she inked on herself actually means “12” and not “JB”. Oopsie! (You can see that mess of a tattoo HERE).
Spicy recently brought this up in her post about Mark Wahlberg taking his older kids on a mini field trip to see their dad get some tattoos removed via laser, in hopes that they’ll think twice about getting inked.
I think a lot of people that have ink have thought about a possible removal, cover-up, or makeover of some kind of one or two of their tats. I’d be surprised if that number didn’t at least reach half of the tattooed population. I have a total of three, and although I still love them all, I think at least one of them (my oldest, which I got when I was 16, illegally of course), a pin-up girl, could if nothing else, be ‘refined’. The ‘ring of fire’ on my wrist could also use a color touch-up. I wouldn’t necessarily remove any of them, because they all still hold important memories for me, but I wouldn’t mind an ink ‘facelift’ if you will.
