Elisabeth Moss: “Fred Armisen’s Best Impression is of a Normal Person”

As we all wait anxiously for the Season 5 premiere of Mad Men, Elisabeth Moss has been busy bringing the sexy to Page Six magazine.

And HOW.

Usually rocking anything from frocks to dickies, we are used to seeing Moss as the book smart girl with little sex appeal. However that has changed over the past few seasons as we have witnessed Peggy gaining confidence with every season gone by. She also exudes a newfound sexuality with that assurance and it has been fun watching her character mature, grow and develop.

Let’s forget Mad Men and Peggy for a moment and talk about Elisabeth Moss. She proves to be just as interesting, if not more so, than her popular onscreen role.

“People will be surprised. I don’t walk around in a Burberry trench coat and bra all the time, but it’s fun to embrace that part of yourself. I think every woman has a sexy, adventurous side. Sometimes you just wanna wear somethin’ real tight and show it all off. Lately I’ve been in that mood.”

And perhaps that mood is due to her recent divorce from SNL’s Fred Armisen, or perhaps it’s due to the fact that her body is in tip-top shape for an upcoming role. Regardless, she is feeling on top of the world these days, but that’s not to say she doesn’t have a heavy heart regarding Armisen.

Moss has never spoken publicly about the divorce but surprisingly she opened up to Page Six’s Carrie Seim (Carrie, you must be good) even though she did keep it short and sweet.

“It’s so hard to talk about,” she says, growing quiet. “One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, ‘He’s so great at doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.’ To me, that sums it up.”

She leans forward, chin in hands and brow furrowed, as she confides all this in a low, measured near-whisper. “And I think that’s…that’s it,” she says, releasing a drawn-out giggle-sigh. “I’ve never told anyone that. And I don’t want to waste any more of my life talking about it.”
