Angelina Jolie’s Engagement Ring Spawns Copycats

Now we have copycat engagement rings, and soon we’ll see a bevy of wedding dress knockoffs

You knew, as soon as we all saw the ring Brad Pitt gave to Angelina Jolie, that there would be some crazy jewelry copycat action going down, and fast!

Well it hasn’t even been a week, and they’re up and running. E! is reporting that high-end jeweler Jacob & Co. has made their own rendition of the Robert Procop-designed stunner. The only thing is, their ring wasn’t exactly inspired by Jolie’s ring, as it was on the market before the news broke about the engagement. Oddly, it looks very similar to it.

With 18-karat white gold, baguette-cut diamonds on the side, with an emerald-cut center stone, it’s like the Jacob & Co. almost had a vision of what Jolie’s ring would look like! Considering Pitt shelled out a half million dollars for Jolie’s ring, this knock-off is a deal…at only $338,000. Whoa.

If you don’t have that kind of cash, E! suggests you could go with Gemvara’s Evelyn rock crystal and sterling silver ring, which features an emerald-cut center stone, accompanied by emerald-cut side stones. The jeweler’s website states, “Reminiscent of Angelina Jolie’s engagement ring, this piece possesses a coveted elegance.” This one retails at $1,200, but in my opinion, it doesn’t look a damn thing like Jolie’s!

I think I’m in the minority, because I actually love Jolie’s ring. I’ve heard a lot of people say it’s tacky and ugly, but as a collector of vintage costume jewelry, I freaking love it, although not enough to shell that kind of money out.
