In one of the more surprising hookups of the year, George Clooney’s ex-girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis, began dating Jackass’ Steve-O, and after almost three months together, it’s been reported that the two have broken up.

According to Radar, Steve-O was the one who ended it, and it looks like he did it to protect himself from any temptations that would lead him off the path of sobriety (he’s been sober now for four years.)

A source close to the situation says, “Steve-O dumped Elisabetta over her partying. He is extremely serious about his sobriety and did not want to be dating anyone who could jeopardize that. He still really cares about her but can’t risk relapsing back into his old ways, so he had to cut her loose. He has hooked her up with some women that he knows to help her try and get back on a stable footing again, and she has been attending meetings.”

The insider then goes on to say, “Steve-O said he thinks she’s committed to getting control of her life again and that he will help her do that, he wants her to control the partying for her own sake. But, in the meantime he needs to distance himself from her.”

This story really makes me respect Steve-O. He obviously is taking his health and sobriety very seriously and is not willing to risk it just for the sake of what’s in his pants. Good man! I wonder what exactly Canalis is getting treated for..? She definitely strikes me as a drug-type person, maybe with a little booze problems added in there. Either way, hopefully she gets the help she needs.
