Robin Gibb is on the road to recovery!
Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb is now conscious and showing signs of recovery after being in a coma for a little more than a week.
Last week, Gibb’s website stated that the famous singer had contracted pneumonia and was in a coma. Since then, loved ones, including his wife Dwina and children, have remained at his bedside, “talking to him and playing his favorite music”. All the love and prayers have helped, because PEOPLE magazine is reporting that Gibb is coming out of the coma.
“Robin is fully conscious, lucid and able to speak to his loved ones,” his doctors said in a statement on Sunday. The statement goes on to say, “He is breathing on his own, with an oxygen mask. He is on intravenous feeding and antibiotics. He is of course, exhausted, extremely weak and malnourished.”
Regarding the loyalty of Gibb’s family, the doctors said, “They have been tireless in their determination never to give up on him. The road ahead for Robin remains uncertain but it is a privilege to look after such an extraordinary human being.”
The statement continued, “It is testament to Robin’s extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds to get where he is now.”
It’s been a rough couple of years for the 62-year-old, who, last October fell ill with intestinal problems. He was later diagnosed with liver and colon cancer, but is now said to be in remission.
So glad to hear Gibb is conscious and showing signs of improvement! Let’s hope, day by day, he works to gain a full and complete recovery.
