Britney Spears’ Fiancé Granted Co-Conservatorship

Britney Spears and Jason Trawick: connected now by love AND law

It’s been made official that Britney Spears’ fiancé, Jason Trawick, is now legally her co-conservator.

TMZ is reporting that Britney’s judge in the case signed the papers Wednesday to make it happen. So from now on, the singer’s future husband, along with her father Jamie Spears, will have legal authority to make decisions on her behalf.

According to PEOPLE, Trawick’s co-conservator responsibility will be to look after Britney’s overall well-being, and could include helping to make decisions on personal issues, including “food, clothing and medical care.” Apparently, Britney’s financial issues, along with control over her estate, will remain with her dad and her attorneys, which have looked after her finances since February 2008.

Earlier this month, Spears’ father filed a petition asking the court to add Jason as a “co-conservator”, and from what everyone is saying, Britney herself asked that it be done.

Some are speculating that this is just a small step in the direction to allow Britney to regain full control over her financial and personal affairs, which will only happen when the judge is convinced she’s healthy enough to handle it all on her own. At that time, the conservatorship will be lifted.

A lot of people have been really freaked out about this move, with Trawick (Britney’s former manager), becoming partially responsible for her. I’m not so sure…I have feelings both ways. Her situation is such a complicated and sensitive one. I think, given what we know, it seems like the most logical step to be taken if she’s ever going to be able to have the conservatorship lifted, to allow her to reclaim control over her life and affairs. She’s come a long way…let’s just keep our fingers crossed that things keep going well for Ms. Spears.
