John Mayer Pens Song About Jennifer Aniston

John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston in cuddlier times

After three years, John Mayer is finally over Jennifer Aniston, and he admits it in his song of his.

A source told UsWeekly, “Shadow Days is about Jen. It really took him a long time to get over her. He really loved her a lot.”

In the song, which is off his album Born and Raised, Mayer sings, “You find yourself alone. . . I found myself in pieces/ On my hotel floor/Hard times help me see/I’m a good man with a good heart/Had a tough time, got a rough start/And I finally learned to let it go.”

The source explains it like this: “He wrote the song as a farewell letter knowing [Jen] would hear it. Ultimately he’s done a lot of self reflection though and it he realizes they weren’t right for each other.”

The singer and actress first hooked up in April 2008 and dated on-and-off for a little over a year. Prior to Aniston, Mayer was linked to Jessica Simpson or according to him, Miss “Sexual Napalm”.

Although the insider says the two weren’t right for each other, they admit he “is a really good guy,” and apparently one that’s done with dating celebrities for a while.

They add, “He’s looking for a nice, non famous girl he can relate to. . . He loved [Jen and Jessica] both but it really affected him emotionally and it wasn’t worth it.”

I’m kind of glad he’s done dating celebs too. I was getting tired of hearing all his TMI love stories. It was really getting to be a bit much.
