Rihanna’s “Talk That Talk” SNL Performance

Rihanna rocks SNL but acted a diva beforehand 

Despite allegedly pissing off SNL execs because she didn’t show up to dress rehearsals, Rihanna still wowed her fans on Saturday Night Live this past weekend.

Hip shaking and booty swaying, Rihanna looked on top of her game for her big SNL performance, right? Who knew she actually called in sick to dress rehearsal. Hmmm….?

It’s true. Apparently Rihanna told everyone she was too sick to perform at the dress rehearsal (which is required of all musical guests of SNL), but miraculously she was just fine and dandy in time for the actual show itself. From TMZ:

According to our sources, RiRi called in sick for the dress rehearsal, which is done live in front of a studio audience right before the actual show. We’re told [Lorne] Michaels takes dress rehearsals very seriously and was quite upset when Rihanna bailed at the last minute.  Our sources say that in her place, Rihanna’s choreographer danced to her songs. When Rihanna showed up later looking just fine, we’re told the staff was shocked … and felt she didn’t appear sick enough to have missed the dress rehearsal … though no one from the show called her on it.

Of course they didn’t. That’s the messed up thing about Hollywood. This sense of entitlement celebrities have once they’ve become comfortable with everyone kissing their ass 24/7. Forget work ethic, it’s all about themselves. Never mind everyone else’s schedules or fulfilling obligations entirely, it’s all about “ME,” baby.

I used to like Rihanna when she was new on the scene. Her smiles dazzled. She looked friendly, happy and approachable. Nowadays she is so worried about being “hard” and “gangsta” that the girl-next-door appeal she once had is lost, and so is my interest in her. Can’t deny the fact that she’s a great performer though, but for some reason, a “meh” is all I can muster.
