Pete Doherty has spoken out about his upcoming solo album and his plans to use lyrics written by the late Amy Winehouse on one of the songs.
The former member of The Libertines chatted with NME recently revealing some details about the new record. He revealed that he’s collaborating with singer Suzi Martin on a track called “Bird Cage”, and says the lyrics for it were originally written by Winehouse. He admits that an acoustic version of the song will also be played at the end of his new film called Confession Of A Child Of The Century.
There is no mention yet on the proposed name for the album, but apparently Doherty has six other confirmed song titles. It is being produced by Adem Hilmi and will be the singer’s second solo effort, following 2009’s Grace/Wastelands.
I’m interested to hear this mystery song. If I recall correctly, didn’t they have sort of a fling a few years back? I have a feeling it was most likely drug-fueled…he’s hardly the poster child for sobriety, but I do want to hear it.
Anyway, if you want to read the rest of the exclusive interview, you can pick up the new issue of NME or download it digitally.
