Amy Winehouse’s Parents: Bronze Statue Outside a Bar is a Great Idea!

I’ve never fully understood Amy Winehouse‘s parents. Her mother Janis always seemed so oblivious to her daughter’s addictions and her father Mitch seemed more concerned with fame and fortune than his daughter’s well being.

Pretty sure I won’t hear any disagreements from y’all there.

Anyhow, the Winehouse’s are hoping they can erect a bronze, life-sized statue of Amy at London’s The Roundhouse, a popular music venue. Sounds interesting enough right? Well get this: the statue would be placed next to the bar on the first floor balcony. Never mind that she died from alcohol poisoning.

Mitch says the reasoning for the placement of the bronze statue is simply ease of location. He told the Camden New Journal, “Amy was in love with Camden. But for us, it is a place that we associate with heartbreak and love, because we loved Amy dearly. We wanted to have a bench in her memory outside her house in Camden Square, but there are so many hoops you have to jump through to do that, planning permission for one. We did speak to the residents’ association for Camden Square and there was no opposition from neighbors, but it’s a residential street.”

Amy Winehouse’s stepmother Jane also spoke about the possible statue: “We’re in very early discussions. So it wouldn’t go up till at least 2013, but for those who loved Amy’s music and all those who knew her around Camden, it’ll be something very special to remember her by.”

A spokesman for The Roundhouse confirmed they are eagerly working with the Winehouse family to construct the bronze statue.

The Winehouse family believes that Amy would have approved of it being as she lived near the venue at the time she was a rising star.

“Cheers” to that…?

Of course Amy would have approved of it, she was an addict. A hardcore one at that. It was sad watching her downward spiral while no one really did anything about it. So yeah, let’s put her memorial statue outside the bar. Brilliant. Maybe have a needle sticking out her arm as well.
