The attempt to auction off Elvis Presley’s original crypt has been deemed unsuccessful, as the idea has been thwarted due to protests made by the King’s fans.
NME is reporting that the coffin held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, originally held Elvis’ body for two months prior to finally being laid to rest, was set to be auctioned off at Julien’s Auctions this weekend. Apparently that idea was quickly shut down as fans of the singer angrily protested, saying it should remain as a shrine to his memory.
So, for now the crypt shall remain in the Forest Hill Cemetery, but who knows what the future will hold. As they say, everything has a price, so if the bidder offers enough, I bet they could get it.
One thing I know for sure, if they are going to make anymore concert holograms of late singers/musicians like they did with Tupac, I’d want it to be of Elvis. I wasn’t yet born when the King passed, and I’d love to have an experience to where I could feel like I was seeing him perform. It would be freaking radical!
