After Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon split up last year after 27 years of marriage and 30 years of fronting alternative group Sonic Youth, the future of the band and its members was unclear. Well, we’ve just got news Moore has started up a new band he’s calling Chelsea Light Moving.
The band recently announced their debut track “Burroughs” (a song inspired by author William S. Burroughs) on their blog, along with the group’s lineup. Guitarist Keith Wood plays alongside Moore, along with bassist Samara Lubelski, and drummer John Moloney. Moore does what he does best and rocks the guitar, sings, and writes the songs.
According to Rolling Stone, although what will remain of Sonic Youth is still unclear, rumor has it Moore and ex-wife Gordon have recorded some new material with Yoko Ono. We’ll keep you posted if any of that work comes to life.
You can check out “Burroughs” on the Matador Blog.
