Jersey Shore’s VD Clause

Jersey Shore VD clause

A new book sinks its meathooks into the dark side of reality tv and claims that the cast of Jersey Shore have a “VD clause” in their contracts.

Written by entertainment journalist Seth Kaufman, The King of Pain claims that the “VD clause” is pretty standard in the reality TV world and it protects shows from showmances gone bad. An excerpt from the said clause:

“Health of Other Participants: Producer hereby informs me, and I acknowledge and accept, that the other participants have not been screened for any diseases, sicknesses or other health conditions (and specifically have not been tested for any sexually transmitted diseases) and I assume all risks of interacting with the other participants, including any consensual contact.”

It’s no secret that numerous reality stars have hooked up while filming shows, and if it results in a venereal disease, well, that’s your own damn problem. Don’t think about running to the nearest lawyer and blaming everyone for your lack of judgement.

I can’t think of a better show to have such a clause, the Jersey Shore cast are a pretty dirty bunch and I bet that clause saved MTV’s ass more than once.
