Everybody loves Dave Grohl, especially folks from his hometown of Warren, Ohio.
According to Rolling Stone, to show their love to the Foo Fighters frontman, two 900-pound drum sticks (that were carved from giant logs) will be unveiled this weekend as a tribute to the skilled musician, who is not only a great guitar player, but also a damn good drummer.
The gigantic sticks will be shown to the public Saturday, July 7th, at the Warren Amphitheater, and will remain there until September, when they’ll be transported to Dave Grohl Alley, the town’s first tribute to the rockstar.
It’s not yet known if Mr. Grohl will attend the special event, but seeing as he and his band aren’t playing a gig until August, he just may. That would be awesome!
Officer Joe O’Grady, who is president of the promotional organization Main Street Warren, along with being a Warren policeman, said the final touches to the tribute drum sticks (feathers etched in the wood to mimic Grohl’s famous arm tattoos) were recently added. (Side Note: It was O’Grady who dedicated a street to Grohl [Dave Grohl Alley] back in 2009!)
What an honor! Good for Grohl, he deserves it.
