“Indecent” would not be a word that I’d use to describe the sugar-pop likeness of Katy Perry. If anything, I think Perry has become a master at the art of creating/using colorful, sexual innuendo-laden lyrics containing double entendres in her music, but overt sexuality is not her thing. She’s not Madonna or Gaga. That being said, everybody is different, with his or her own ideas of what the word means.
According to MTV, the singer’s recent stage performance in India might have gotten her in some legal trouble.
Lawyer K. Jebakumar has filed a complaint about the pop star over an “obscene and lascivious” performance he says she and Australian cricketer Doug Bollinger engaged in at the launch of the Indian Premier League in April. The attorney says Perry’s “indecent” dance moves with Bollinger offended the public and had actually “distracted students who were writing exams at the time”.
If you’re wondering what sort of dancing we’re talking about, MTV puts it like this: “A moment during her show [Perry] brought Australian cricketer Doug Bollinger onstage to demonstrate the proper technique for swinging a bat. Bollinger cozied up behind her and gripped her microphone.”
Perry and the cricket player have not yet been formally charged, and are not expected to be present during the July 31 hearing in an Indian court, although they might need to show up to court at a later date to defend themselves if the case is not dismissed.
Wow, there’s so much more in this world to be offended by other then that, but cultures differ I guess. Here in America, I think maybe we’ve become a little desensitized to things. This just seems laughable.
