Flashback to the early 90s when The Cure was still known as one of the most popular alternative bands in the world. To this day, The Cure is one of the only 80s goth bands who continue to remain relevant. They are currently working on their 14th studio album.
Robert Smith, with his bright red lips, super sprayed hair, dyed jet black and floral granny dresses, helped to create the “goth” scene of the late 80s. This was a time when I was in high school and I remember the goth kids as reclusive, angsty, and suffocating in black eyeliner and clothing. One thing many of them had in common was their love for The Cure. Although I didn’t dress like them (I did have HUGE 80s hair though) I loved gothic music. The Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie, Joy Division…
This video performance clip of The Cure’s “The Forest” was shot in 1992, I have no idea where, but it is classic Cure, and it’s actually pretty good quality for being 20 years old and on YouTube. And it’s oh, so moody.
Enjoy the trip!
