Sharon Osbourne will not be returning to America’s Got Talent next season due to a spat with NBC which involves her son, Jack. As the story goes, Jack was slated to star on the network’s show, Stars Earn Stripes, a military style show where celebrities compete against one another in challenges for charity. However, two days before filming was to begin, Jack was told via email that he wouldn’t be needed. Sharon believes that NBC decided to not work with Jack because he had recently revealed that he had MS, Multiple Sclerosis.
Steaming Sharon fumed, “I just can’t be fake. It’s discrimination, and it was badly handled.” What really pisses Sharon off is that NBC has supposedly lied about everything, denying they even hired Jack in the first place. Sharon says they have emails showing otherwise. Both parties have agreed on one thing though, Jack Osbourne’s contract was never signed; Sharon says this is not unusual. ”I was working without a signed contract right up until the live shows started on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ Everything is done at the last minute. We took six months to negotiate back and forth.”
Producers worried the show’s regimen would be too much for Osbourne. Producer David Hurwitz stated, ”The rigors of the show were too intense for him.” But Sharon says the show meant a lot to Jack. ”He didn’t want the money. He wanted his gig. It gave him something to look forward to when he was diagnosed. Think of the good that it could have done to show other people who have this … that your life is not over.”
