Gwen Stefani Says Husband Gavin Rossdale Likes Her Better With Makeup

Gwen Stefani graces the cover of the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar and in it, she dishes about her iconic fashion and makeup style.

Like Dita Von Teese, you’ll never see Stefani without her hair and makeup done; it’s just not going to happen. Her roots are always touched up, her lips always perfectly painted, and her eyeliner flawlessly applied. It’s just how they roll.

Apparently, not only does the No Doubt singer look picture perfect when in public, but she maintains that appearance at home too. “I like to make my husband [Bush singer Gavin Rossdale] like me more,” she told the magazine. But she maintains, she’s always been like that. “I’ve always been a girl who loves to dress up. I already put my makeup on twice today!” she admitted.

The 42-year-old style icon says it took her several years for her to finally come into her own. She reveals she didn’t die her brunette hair that signature platinum blond color until her mid-twenties, 25 to be exact. Talking about the life-changing hair makeover (which allegedly took 8 freaking hours!), Stefani says, “I’d unlocked a key. I remember feeling like, ‘I have arrived. This is me. Finally.’”

When it comes to her ever-present bright red-painted lips, she says she learned that beauty tip from her grandma when she was in high school. Stefani jokingly says, “I remember sitting in my ghetto, beat-up Honda Prelude and putting on that lipstick in the rearview mirror and being like, ‘Uh-huh, I like that. That’s the s–t right there.’ I never stopped after that.”

Haha. I love this woman more and more every year. She’ll always be that gorgeous, chill, ska-reggae-pop rockstar we’ve known and loved. Like a fine awine, she gets better with age.
