Stephen Baldwin Comes To Aid Of An Epileptic Woman In New York

Stephen Baldwin Rescues NYC Woman

Stephen Baldwin is the latest celebrity to play hero in real life. The 46-year-old actor came to the rescue of a woman he saw suffering a seizure last Thursday in New York.

According to the New York Daily News, Baldwin was sitting at the Peninsula Hotel bar with his publicist, Brad Taylor, for a business meeting, when he noticed a young woman having a seizure.

He explained the incident to the paper saying, “All of a sudden every head turned because there was this loud bang. It was this girl, fallen on the floor.” Apparently the girl was groaning loudly, her eyes were rolling in the back of her head, and she was foaming at the mouth. Describing it, Baldwin said, “It was pretty violent.”

Taylor says two girls ran over to try and help, but the guy next to them, seemingly unaware, kept sipping his martini. Right away Baldwin ran over and knelt down by the girl, held her hand and began saying prayers. Noticing her symptoms were that of epilepsy (he has family members that are epileptic), he said he just “wanted to make sure the young lady was okay and her breathing wasn’t restricted.”

After a few minutes the woman’s shaking stopped, but she remained a bit confused. Baldwin says she exclaimed, “Where am I? What happened?” He asked her, “Do you have epilepsy??” to which she replied, “Yes” and started to cry.

Luckily a nurse arrived quickly and called the victim’s mother, who asked to speak to the man who came to her daughter’s rescue.

“The mom starting asking questions about the seizure,” Baldwin said of their phone chat. “There are characteristics of the seizure that she has to report back to her doctor.”

Taylor praised Baldwin by calling him a “hero” and said that, thanks to his help, the nurse was able to successfully revive the young lady.

Thank goodness the girl came out of this okay, and kudos to Baldwin for stepping up to the plate. Everyone should be proactive like this.

This was a very sad day for the hotel and its patrons, as earlier in the day a man committed suicide by jumping out of his window, 22 stories high.
