Joey Kovar, “Real World” Star, Dead at 29

Real World: Hollywood reality star Joey Kovar has died this morning at the age of 29.

A female friend discovered his body early this morning at his Chicago residence. There was blood coming from his nose and ears. Paramedics pronounced him dead shortly after arriving on the scene.

On Real World Joey claimed to have been physically abused by his father from the age of 2. His appearance on the show was one of the most unforgettable. He also appeared on Celebrity Rehab 3. Yes, another Celebrity Rehab death. How many is that now? In hindsight, I wonder if Dr. Drew thinks that show was a mistake?

Kovar’s Bio on MTV.com:

Joey Kovar worked as a personal trainer and aspiring actor in Chicago when he was cast on The Real World: Hollywood in 2008. His “big break” fell apart though when he became uncontrollably drunk and high on drugs during the show. His behavior became so outrageous that he was asked to leave the program. It was this very public fall that brought Joey’s long struggle with addiction to light. It soon became known that Joey had been abusing massive amounts of alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy, meth and, as part of his bodybuilding, steroids since he was a teenager and had come very close to death through an overdose.

It is believed that Joey died from an overdose, but there has been no official ruling as of yet.

Tragic, and yet many of us know someone like him. So sad to see people waste their life destroying themselves. Let’s hope Joey is finally at peace.
