Toddler & Tiaras Mom May Lose Custody Of Daughter Because Of Outfit

Toddlers And Tiaras Mom May Lose Custody Of Daughter Maddy

Although I’ve never watched an episode of Toddlers & Tiaras, I have heard and read the controversy surrounding it and have to agree, it’s all insanity. That being said, I did watch the first episode (so far) of the new spinoff Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, and even though it too is insane, I have to admit it’s entertaining as hell!

Anyway, if you’re a seasoned T&T show watcher, you might recall an episode last year when a woman named Lindsay Jackson dressed her young daughter Maddy in a Dolly Parton outfit that included a padded bra and butt pads. Well that episode caused a lot of controversy, especially with Lindsay’s estranged husband, Bill Verst, who is claiming she sexually exploited their daughter by dressing her up that way.

According to ABC News, Maddy’s dad has asked a Kentucky court to grant him sole custody of his six-year-old daughter.

As of Saturday, the judge has issued a gag order on Lindsay, and has banned her from entering her daughter in any pageants for the duration of the trial.

Apparently, Bill has a court-assigned psychologist on his side, who’s totally against the Dolly costume, and is reportedly asking the judge to grant him sole custody.

In her own defense, Lindsay says she never intended to dress her daughter in a sexual manner, and says this whole ordeal “opens the door for any parent to challenge anybody on any activity that a kid does, period.”

Lindsay obviously sees the child-Dolly costume differently than many, saying, “When she [Maddy] wears the fake boobs and the fake butt, it’s just like an added extra bonus and it’s really funny when she comes out on stage and everybody thinks it’s hysterical.”

Yeah, sure, it’s kind of funny, but in a weird, uncomfortable way. Seeing these little girls dressed up like this is not cute in my opinion, it’s just creepy. I think the mother that dressed her daughter up to look like Julia Robert’s prostitute character in Pretty Woman is even more at fault. That was just wrong on every level!

Lindsay and Bill will be back in court for the custody case when it resumes on August 31.

By the way, that photo above gives off more a Paula Deen vibe than a Dolly Parton one, no?

I, like you, have never seen the show- nor do I intend to. It makes me sick that parents will exploit their children to this extent to fulfill some kind of strange desire they have. No kid “wants” to do it on their own- they want to do it because their parent wants them to do it.

She may not deserve to have custody taken away, but I think preventing her from pageants, or at the very least- having the father approve all outfits may be the option.
