Avril Lavigne Is Engaged To Nickelback Singer Chad Kroeger

I had a feeling in my gut that Avril Lavigne and Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger had more going on than just business, and I guess my gut was right on.  It’s been reported the two are now engaged!

The last we heard or saw of Lavigne, she was spending time in Paris, showing off her newly half-shaved head. She had also been spotted numerous times with Kroeger for what most thought was for business purposes only (he has reportedly co-written a song with her), but now we know the truth.

According to PEOPLE, 27-year-old Lavigne, and 37-year-old Kroeger, have been dating for six months and now they’re ready to tie the knot.

A friend of Lavigne’s tells the magazine, “A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together.”

A family insider adds, “He makes her so happy. Both of their families could not be more excited.”

Apparently Kroeger popped the question almost two weeks ago, on August 8, with a 14-carat-diamond ring.

This will be the Nickelback frontman’s first marriage, and the second for Lavigne, who was previously married to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley for three years (I think they were together for about 5 years total). She also dated Brody Jenner for a couple years, but they ended their relationship in early 2012.

Not to be a pessimist or anything, but my guess is (just an uneducated guess my friends!) that they won’t make it down the aisle, and Lavigne is going through a major rebound with Kroeger. With reports that she has just completed her new album that was inspired by ex-boyfriend Jenner, me thinks she still pines for the boy.

I guess we’ll see.
