It was exciting news for Britney Spears’ fans the day it was announced that she’d be accepting that $15 million deal to be a judge on the upcoming season of The X Factor, but that gig almost didn’t happen, because she was close to quitting the first day on the job.
The show’s creator, Simon Cowell, phoned into TMZ Live and chatted a bit about what really went on the day it was reported that Spears walked off the show’s set. Cowell admitted his people “half-lied” about Spears just needing to use the bathroom (they also blamed it on her A.D.H.D. if I recall). Apparently it had something to do with the singer having a panic attack.
Says Cowell, “No one is going to admit that on the first day your highest paid star after 20 minutes has walked off set.”
Explaining a bit more, Cowell says that Spears “had a moment on the first day where she said to me ‘I’m not sure I can do this.’”
Luckily, Cowell was able to talk her into keeping the job and says now, not only is she loving it, she has also turned into an awesome judge.
That’s good to hear. Back when we thought it was A.D.H.D.-related, I felt for her because I too struggle with attention deficit disorder. Now knowing it was due to anxiety, I again feel for her. Anybody that’s dealt with anxiety disorder and the horror of having panic attacks knows that shiz sucks. I wouldn’t wish that fear and stress on my worst enemy…well maybe I would on an enemy, but I like to think I have none. I’m a friendly kind of gal!
Anyway, good for Brits for staying strong and overcoming her fears.
