Green Day Gives Update On Singer Billie Joe Armstrong’s Health

Green Day Singer Billie Joe Armstrong Health Update

It was a bummer to hear that Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong was struck with a gnarly illness over the weekend that put him in the E.R., and the lack info regarding his health was a bit unsettling, but we’ve got good news: He’s on the road to recovery and is going to be just fine.

The band, who was forced to cancel playing a concert in Italy due to Armstrong’s illness, have given an update on their singer’s health, saying he was struck hit by a double whammy of sickness, suffering from severe dehydration as well as influenza.

The band’s bassist Mike Dirnt opened up to MTV News (via NME) about it saying, “Billie came down with heavy, heavy dehydration; it was like severe dehydration, influenza, and it was just a really, really bad situation. He woke up in the morning and it was bad. Let’s put it this way, if you’re in your hotel room and you’re vomiting profusely, it’s not fun. So what are you gonna do? It’s hard to sing while you’re puking.”

He goes on to say that the band is set on making up their cancelled show in Italy and admits the guys were all disappointed, as they’ve held a proud record of only missing five shows in their almost thirty years playing together.

In Dirnt’s words, “We’re going to make our way back to Bologna [Italy] and play that show ASAP. We don’t miss many shows; we’ve maybe missed five shows out of our entire career and we pride ourselves on that, but we’re human.”

Rock on Green Day and get better Billie!!

By the way, from the looks of it, the group is back and feeling better than ever! They hit up the 2012 MTV VMA’s Thursday night to play live, and they rocked the house down! Best performance of the night in my opinion.
