Rihanna has gotten another tat, and I’m betting this one has got to be one of the most meaningful (to her) tattoos she’s gotten.
The singer, who lost her beloved grandma Ciara “Dolly Brathwaite to cancer a few months ago, tweeted out a pic (which you can see below) of the new ink this weekend with the caption, “Goddess Isis- Complete Woman – Model for future generations- #GRANGRANDOLLY – always in and on my heart #1love.” She took the needlework right under her breasts, as you can see. *Hello, ouch!*
Regarding the Egyptian tattoo: Goddess Isis was “worshipped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patron of nature and magic. She was the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans, and the downtrodden, and she listened to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats, and rulers.” (Thanks Wikipedia!)
Out of all of the tats I’ve seen of Rihanna’s, this is my favorite. It was obviously done well, but more importantly, it’s a tribute to somebody that was a beautiful inspiration to her.
Since my grandmother passed (back in 2009), I’ve wanted to get a tattoo in memory of her, but hadn’t decided on what to get. Like Rihanna, my grandma had an unspeakable influence on me, my personality, and just my life in general. She was my everything. I miss her everyday, but give thanks for the time I was able to share with her.
I’m happy for Rihanna and her new ink and the good memories it will bring to mind. Long live Gran Dolly!
