80’s Cult Classic ‘Heathers’ Getting TV Reboot By Bravo

'Heathers' Getting TV Reboot By Bravo

Another day, another reboot. This time it’s a reboot of the 80’s cult classic dark comedy movie Heathers, which starred Christian Slater, Winona Ryder, and Shannen Doherty. My all-time favorite movie. Damn you Hollywood.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bravo (owned by NBC–the devil obviously), is developing a TV show reboot of the famous movie, along with four other dramas in its attempt to include “original scripted programming” on its network.

In this updated and modern version of Heathers, the storyline “picks up 20 years later, with Veronica (Ryder’s character) returning home to Sherwood with her teenage daughter, who must contend with the next generation of mean girls: the Ashleys: the daughters of the surviving Heathers.” (via THR)

Television producer and screenwriter Jenny Bicks (whose work include The Big C and Sex And The City), will write and executive produce along with Mark Rizzo (The Man Date).

I just don’t see this working out, but I will be forced to watch, or at least try. I’ve been nuts with this movie since it came out and have probably watched it several hundred times, no joke. Embarrassingly enough, I can recite word-for-word the entire movie as I’m watching it.  Best dialogue ever.
