Beastie Boys ‘Pass the Mic,’ Still Lovin’ It 20 Years Later

Holy crap, I feel old (3MTA3), it’s been more than 20 years since the Beastie Boys’ Check Your Head was released and I love it just as much now as I did then. Maybe even more so.

Check Your Head was a very different album compared to License to Ill and Paul’s Boutique, it was more organic, experimental and raw. One of the best singles to come from it would have to be Pass the Mic. It’s catchy, funky, loud and contagious. There is no way I can listen to this song and not move to it. Awesome album, awesome band, in their prime. I had a friend once tell me that he hated, and I mean despised, the Beastie Boys. I’ve never looked at that friend quite the same since. I mean, HOW can you not LOVE the Beasties?

Turn this shit UP and get your funk on. Mondays don’t always have to suck.
