Lady Gaga Admits Being ‘Tormented’ By Weight Obsession Since She Was Little

Lady Gaga Fighting Eating Disorders Since She Was Young

Lady Gaga has gotten some heat lately regarding her weight, and it seems the news has hit a soft spot for the popstar.

Last week The Daily Mail published an article showing photos of Gaga onstage not only partaking in some of the good green stuff, but also not looking like her usual waiflike self. My first thoughts were the pictures weren’t real, not that she looked “fat” per se, but for her and her frame, she just looked like she had a quick weight gain, not to mention the unflattering camera angles. It made it seem they were altered or fake.

Well the gossip has hit home for the 26-year-old performer and she’s spoken up about the issue, and reveals that she’s struggled with weight issues her whole life.

Tuesday Gaga announced on her website that she was starting a “body revolution” and posted some photos of her looking quite vulnerable while standing in her undies. With the photos was a telling caption that read she’s battled, “bulimia and anorexia since I was 15.”

Responding to the outpouring of emotion exhibited by her fans through pictures and words on her website, Gaga wrote, “I have been startled and overwhelmed with pride and emotion the past few days. Gratitude mostly. Seeing you post photos of things on your bodies and in your minds that you feel society tells you you should be ashamed of. You are showing them you have no shame.”

She added, “Watching you all create a safe space online for people to be compassionate is the greatest gift you could ever give me.”

Gaga explained more about her past with weight issues and eating disorders by stating, “My weight/loss/gain since I was child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But you have. My boyfriend [Taylor Kinney] prefers me curvier. When I eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I’m happy. Happier than I’ve ever been. I am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny.”

She finishes saying, “This is who I am. And I am proud at any size. And I love you, and want you to be proud in any form you may take as well. Please don’t look for kindness in critics, go where you know the gold is. Here, in our hearts. Love, Gaga.”

Good for her. I think women look great with a little meat on them and actually think she’s looking awesome now and most importantly healthy.
