Vanessa Paradis Talks About Life After Johnny Depp

Ever since Vanessa Paradis split from Johnny Depp after 14 years of dating, both Paradis and Depp have kept quiet regarding the reasons ‘why’. Though she’s set on keeping her and Depp’s children (13-year-old Lily-Rose and 10-year-old Jack) out of the spotlight, Paradis was willing to open up a little bit when she was interviewed by the Daily Beast recently.

When the French actress was asked what went wrong with the couple this was her answer: “I don’t sell my private life, and nobody knows the truth or has done a proper journalist’s work on that situation,” adding, “Nowadays, people speculate, but nobody knows! I have my children to protect. There are children involved, so it’s really no one’s business but the family.”

Paradis and Depp were no strangers with the media prying into their lives before their break-up, but ever since they parted ways, it possibly has gotten worse. The gossip nowadays is that Depp has been dating his Rum Diaries costar Amber Heard on-and-off again ever since he and Paradis split. As of right now, word is they’re “on”.

Talking about how she copes with the gossip, Paradis says she just focuses on the kids: “What changes with motherhood is that you’re not No. 1 in your life anymore. Suddenly, someone counts more than yourself. It makes you a better person, less selfish and more aware of others. The biggest love of your life is born, and it’s the one love that never fades, but keeps growing stronger.”

As for whether she believes that ‘true love’ exists and if there is such a thing as ‘soulmates’ she says: “Love starts with a gut feeling, but that gut feeling better be nourished. The idea of a soul mate is a beautiful thing to put in a film or in a book, but in real life I’m scared by it. It’s like putting a label on love.”

“To say, ‘You are, forever, my soul mate,’ is almost like knowing the end of a story. When you fall madly in love, you think it is forever, and it might be and it might not be—what matters is not to label it.”

She’s got a great attitude and I really like her and hope someday those two will get back together. Depp and Heard just don’t belong together…it’s Paradis all the way!
