Lana Del Rey Explains The Meaning Behind Her Vagina-Inspired Song

Lana Del Rey Explains Meaning Behind 'Cola' Song

Whether she’s singing about Courtney Love’s or her own, one thing’s for sure…Lana Del Rey likes to sing about vaginas.

The 26-year-old’s song titled “Cola” (also sometimes listed as “Pussy”), which is featured on the reissue of her Born To Die album, the “Paradise Edition” (which will be released on November 13), contains lyrics that some are calling ‘controversial’. In the ditty, Lana sings: “My pussy tastes like Pepsi Cola/ My eyes are wide like cherry pie”, and apparently some fans have begged the question, “What does it all mean?” and lucky for them, she’s provided an answer.

According to NME, Lana blames the lyric on her boyfriend. She told Australian radio station Triple J: “I have a Scottish boyfriend, and that’s just what he says!” She also admitted that although she herself was happy to release the song, the people she worked with weren’t so much.

She said, “They just thought it was really weird – nothing new here. For me that song was so cool. The guys got to play electric guitars… the chorus opens up and has tropical undertones. For me, the vibe of it is so good, I love it.”

“There was a lot of laughter. I’m getting lots of Pepsi comments, lots of Pepsi fan mail,” she added.

Well, personally I wouldn’t take that as a compliment, as everybody knows that Pepsi doesn’t even come close to Coca-Cola in the taste war. I’d choose Coke (a Mexican one with cane sugar please) any day over Pepsi. Her boyfriend was insulting her!
