Keira Knightley Talks Feminism, Anorexia, And Loses Her Top

Keira Knightley Allure Magazine 2012

Keira Knightley covers Allure magazine’s December issue and she’s looking better than ever. The 27-year old, posing topless in only tuxedo pants and a Chanel jacket for the shoot, says she likes “a masculine look” and feels “comfortable in it.”

Knightley got pretty candid for the interview with the magazine, which will officially hit shelves on November 20th. In it, she comes clean about her feeling regarding nudity in film, feminism, and also addresses past rumors that she suffered from an eating disorder.

Here are a few of the story’s highlights:

Her stance on going nude on film: “I’m quite rigorous about what gets exposed,” she says. “No bottom half! I don’t mind exposing my tits because they’re so small—people really aren’t that interested!”

Her response to the speculation that she once suffered from anorexia (there was much speculation about it back in 2007): “I knew I wasn’t anorexic. But maybe my body is somehow not right. Or my face is not right. Or the way I speak is not right. When you’re going through a period where you’re really getting a lot of criticism, you go, Maybe all this is right! You just kind of want to hide it all.”

Her thoughts on feminism: She says, “I am a feminist, but I clearly objectify myself – so that right there is a total contradiction to feminist principles.”

On her career and ageism and sexism: “It’s very, very hard on women who get older…I can say that when I’m 27, you know. Talk to me when I’m 37.”

Glad to see her back. She does look like she’s put on a couple pounds and she looks fabulous and healthy because of it. Plus I like her charm.
