Denise Richards Opens Her Home To Rescued Hurricane Sandy Pup

I’ve said it again and again, I’m a sucker for animals and love animal lovers just the same. I would do just about anything for my pets and never understand people that say they ‘hate’ or ‘don’t like’ animals. To me it’s like saying you ‘hate’ babies. How? They’re innocent and beautiful.

Anyway, after hearing that major dog lover Denise Richards added one more dog to her brood over the weekend, a rescue that survived the horrible Hurricane Sandy, I got a serious case of the “awwws”.

Richards, 41, visited Long Island’s North Shore Animal League America this past weekend to help bring awareness to the non-profit animal rescue and its promotion of animal adoption in the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Sandy storm.

Apparently, adopting a dog wasn’t on the list for the actress who was there to do her charitable work, but understandably, a little one caught her eye…a dog named Tara.

The animal organization posted to their Facebook page along with a photo of mama Richards and daughter Tara (see pic below): “During their visit Denise and her family fell in love with Tara the Labrador Mutt-i-gree puppy and welcomed her into their home!”

Richards, an avid animal rescuer, reportedly already has a houseful of adopted dogs living with her (how many?: “Too many to count” according to her), her three precious daughters (San and Lola Rose Sheen and Eloise Joni Richards) and her father, so Tara will must’ve had a very big and warm welcome.

Richards and her family are so hardcore with their love for dogs and pets that they even converted their garage into a dog room. Adding to that, the gorgeous actress said in an interview, “It’s good for my girls. For my daughter’s birthday party, in lieu of gifts, we asked if anyone was interested in donating blankets and dog food and cat litter and my daughter dropped it off at the shelter.  So, it’s nice for them to know and to learn to give back. And they’re very nurturing, which is great for the animals, too.”

Charlie Sheen could’ve really learned something from his ex-wife, that’s for sure.
