Rihanna’s 777 Tour: 7 Days Of Hell?

When we heard about Rihanna’s 777 tour and how she was setting off on a 7-day, 7-concert, 7-country adventure with her, a flight crew, journalists and fans, part of me thought “wow, what a blast that would be” while the other part of me knew it was too good to be true. Sure it would be great to attend a concert in a different country every night, but throw in there all those people, with so little time, oh and the fact that I hate flying, no thanks. Well, we hear the fantasy tour has turned into a bit of a nightmare tour and it’s not even over yet.

It was all good and a party when the crew left off for their Mexico City visit, with Rihanna popping champagne in the plane aisles. The show went well, then they were off to Toronto, then to Stockholm, then Paris, then we hear things started to go south.

According to Julianne Smolinski over at Popdust (via Dlisted), the 777 entourage all had a few things in common. They’re experiencing jetlag daily, their exhausted with limited resources, and they’re all burnt out on not seeing Rihanna except for when they get to see her perform (usually coming on stage 2 hours late every night).

In Smolinski’s words:

“For those of you who don’t understand why being on a plane with Rihanna for five days might not be so bad:

1) Okay, you have a point. We’re very lucky to be here and to have jobs to do. Just being employed and invited to hear music and eat free sandwiches for a week is a privilege, and I think most of the fans and journalists aboard felt that way for the first part of the trip.

2) That being said … Picture the last time you were delayed at an airport for several hours. Now picture that happening several times in one day, with no ability to make calls, text, or use the internet. Sometimes you aren’t sure of the next time you’ll be able to use a bathroom, get water, or eat. Now picture that happening for five days in a row, all while you’re supposed to be doing your job remotely. Now picture that, with a steady soundtrack of European house music.

3) Also picture that Rihanna is supposed to be on your plane, and she is barely present until she shows up on stage, hours late.”

It seems these delirious partygoers are making the best of a crazy situation and having a little fun with it. Even if that means going nuts and getting naked in the jetliner like the guy below. Streakers always make a party more fun. And I love the dude’s personality…look what he challenges RiRi to!

Well, after Paris, the group is hitting up Berlin, then London, and finally New York City. Let’s hope no one’s head falls off before that.
