If you haven’t heard, Yoko Ono has debuted a new men’s fashion line based off of old sketches she had once given to her late husband John Lennon, and just like you’d expect from the eccentric 79-year-old, it’s one wacky bunch of designs.
The Opening Ceremony collection was based off of drawings Ono gave to Lennon as a wedding present in 1969.
According to Vanity Fair (via NME), her sketches were drawn for her husband to “emphasize his very sexy bod”. In all, there are 18 pieces in the collection ranging from a black jockstrap featuring LED lights, pants with cloth hands covering the crotch area, and funky bandeau-type tops. None of which I can imagine the legendary John Lennon in.
Even with this collection (that also includes ‘a pair of boots with a handy receptacle for holding incense in’) and the like that was not included (‘underwear fashioned from a rigid mask’ and ‘pants attached to a long lion’s tail in the rear’), Miss Ono is still being invited to be a part of next years’ Meltdown Festival in London as the festival’s curator.
Ono’s fashion designs aren’t my thing, and her music has never been a favorite of mine, but the woman does have a creative mind, I’ll give her that!
